The year of AI

2024 is the year when AI goes mainstream.

I've been playing with text-to-image generation tools, primarily Bing Images and learning now to craft prompts to get exactly or close to what I want. These tools are so empowering and scales well from novice to expert users. Like anything it has it's own language and patterns, if you want to produce great looking images, there a some learning and experimenting involved.

At the moment, if you're not paying, you really can't play much. For example, RunwayML has a fixed amount of tokens for a free account, and they currently don't allow you top up tokens, you have to pay for a subscription. I don't see this changing soon due to cost of training and running these language models. I also don't expect a lot of people will go through the trouble of downloading these models and accessing them locally on their computers.

I noticed that most mainstream image tools watch for certain keywords and restrict what you can generate. I wonder if this will change in the future.

These AI tools are for everyone, whether you're a fashion designer, architect, software engineer, educator, video editor, whatever you do. There are applications for virtually every field both as creators of tools and users of these tools.

There is a huge opportunity for knowledgeable AI prompters to teach what they know.

What are you using and how are you using these tools in your daily lives?
